Privacy

Last updated: 22 August 2026. This policy describes what information wenzhi-ding.com, the personal academic website of Wenzhi Ding, collects and how it is used.

The short version

This is a static personal website. It has no accounts, no comment forms, no newsletter, and no login of any kind. It does not sell data, and the only information gathered is aggregate traffic analytics described below.

Analytics

Two third-party analytics services measure aggregate usage so Dave can see which pages are useful:

  • Google Analytics 4 — collects pseudonymous usage events (page views, approximate location, device/browser type) and may set the_ga cookie family. Data is processed by Google under its privacy policy. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on or any standard tracking blocker.
  • Microsoft Clarity— records anonymized interaction patterns (scrolls and clicks) to understand page usability; Clarity masks form fields and does not collect names or emails. See Microsoft's privacy statement.

Other third-party requests

Pages load fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com), which receives your IP address as part of any web request. CV and paper PDFs are served directly from this domain. No advertising or social-media trackers are used.

Email

If you email the address on the Contact page, your message is handled by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University's mail systems under the university's own data-governance rules. Your address is used only to reply.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK GDPR or Hong Kong's PDPO), you may have rights to access or delete personal data connected to this site. Because the site itself stores no personal data, such requests concern analytics vendors or email correspondence; contact Dave at the email above and he will help route them. This policy may be updated occasionally; changes appear on this page with a new date.
